Media Literacy Maker space Proposal Reflection

I can’t believe that this is the first presentation for this class. I say this because I am just so surprised at how calm (and even a little excited) I was for it. I am usually so stressed regardless whether it is a solo or group presentation. This time I wasn’t as nervous as I usually am for class presentations. Instead of a formal presentation, it felt more like a conversation. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing. It may have something to do with how small the class is and how ready my group members and I were.

Peer Reflection: My group members were very dedicated to this project. Members of my group were happy and willing to take on tasks and also completed parts in a timely manner. We came up with the idea for the maker space together. Then we divided up the work. Julie thought of an inventory list, Bridget thought of programs and promoting, and Connie worked on policies. In the past, I have worked with people who still have to add their contributions the same day that a project is due and right before class (so stressful!) This was not the case at all. I witnessed my group members working on the Google slides throughout the week. We had an email thread were members asked questions, responded promptly and respectfully.

Self Reflection: I believe I did my part for this project well. Like my peers, I was also dedicated to this project. I made sure to always check the email thread so I may be reachable to them as well as communicative. As stated above, we came up with the maker space together and then divided up the work. For the presentation, I focused on Palatine demographics, a little about the library including the mission and vision, and Why we chose the maker space including the goals and background.

Overall, this was a very productive and enjoyable project! All parts (inventory, equipment, proposal) tied together and made complete sense.
